Plants run around the clock, and a shift change can bring dozens of people through the door within minutes. EZTime gives them a quick way to clock in at the entrance with a tablet kiosk or an NFC tag, and gives supervisors a live view of who is on the floor. Your pay rules are configured once: overtime by day, week or shift, break rules, night shifts that cross midnight and different hourly rates by role or production line. Safety training records and PPE acknowledgments live in each digital employee file. At the end of the pay period, HR exports hours straight to payroll.
Outgoing and incoming crews clock out and in at a kiosk or NFC tag by the entrance, and the supervisor sees in real time who has arrived.
A shift runs from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Shift rules keep it together as one workday instead of splitting it across two dates.
An operator covers a different line for the afternoon. Switching role in the app records those hours at that role's rate.
An employee nears the weekly overtime threshold, and the supervisor gets an alert in time to adjust the schedule.

Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, non-exempt employees earn at least one and a half times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. The regular rate is not always the base hourly wage: it generally includes non-discretionary extras such as shift differentials, so a night premium can raise the overtime rate. Our FLSA overtime guide covers how this works. Federal law does not require meal or rest breaks, but short breaks that an employer does offer, usually 5 to 20 minutes, count as paid work time. Several states do require meal or rest breaks; see our California meal and rest break guide for one example. EZTime lets you configure these rules for each location and agreement and alerts supervisors when a break or overtime rule is at risk.
Most plants use a tablet kiosk or NFC tags at the entrance. Employees can also clock in from the EZTime mobile app with GPS location inside an approved clock-in area. Biometric terminals are coming soon in the US.
You can configure shift rules so a shift that starts before midnight and ends after it is treated as one workday, which keeps reports and overtime calculations consistent.
